Nymphoides Hydrophylla ‘Taiwan’ is a pretty forgiving, low-tech aquarium plant that shines with stable nutrients and regular trimming to keep its fast growth in check. Moderate to high lighting allows it to stay compact and vibrant, while lower light will cause it to stretch toward the surface. CO2 isn’t required, but it makes a noticeable difference. Expect denser, more controlled growth compared to larger, more surface-reaching leaves without it. Best placed in the midground to background, this rosette plant works well as a soft focal point or for adding layered texture in natural-style layouts. It spreads quickly through runners, sending out new plants horizontally, and will often produce floating leaves if left untrimmed, adding interest to both submerged and emersed portions of a freshwater aquascape.

This aquatic plant can provide excellent natural cover for fish and shrimp, especially when allowed to grow a bit more freely. In smaller tanks, it may need regular trimming to prevent it from shading out surrounding plants. Under the right conditions, Nymphoides Taiwan may reward you with small yellow flowers at the surface.

Key Features & Important Notes:

  • Nymphoides is a strong nutrient feeder, especially through the roots, so it responds really well to a nutrient-rich substrate or root tabs.
  • Please be sure to remove this plant from its pot. Remove the rockwool surrounding the roots and attach it to the hardscape. For instructions on how to properly prep "potted" aquarium plants, click here.
  • The plant’s final size, coloration, and growth rate are dependent upon the condition of the aquarium.
  • Photos are a representation of what you will receive and may vary.
  • Do not make drastic changes to the aquarium. Unstable parameters can result in melt and rotting of the aquarium plant.
  • CO2 injection will yield better growth.
  • Please research appropriately to ensure your plant thrives.
